Today Room Three took over care of our Waikino Flock. We had some great discussions about what chickens ate, how we would know who was top of the 'pecking order' and why chickens couldn't eat dried rice. We are looking at the letter 'E' and the chickens surprised us by providing an example at lunchtime.
This afternoon we set up a little experiment (because we were told not to feed rice to the chickens) to see what happened when we put dried rice in warm water and vinegar to try to recreate a chickens stomach. We also put in chicken pellets to see what happened as they looked and felt like rice.
Ask us what happened.
Today Room Three made flax headbands for the Matariki concert tomorrow. We look forward to seeing you there.
Today is our first day back to Term at Waikino School, in a newly set up Room 3, Junior Classroom.
We are all Y0-1, new entrant students and we love our classroom! We have been exploring all our new activities and getting to know our new students Molly and Kahn, who also started today along with our new teacher Ms Smith. It is fun getting to know each other and our classroom...
