We wanted to make something that could be sold by the PTA this weekend and help with their fundraising efforts so zucchini cakes for the bake sale it was.
Kōtare - encouragement taking turns is an important part of the cooking process at school. Sometimes it's easy to give up when things are hard and pass the tools on to the next person. It was great to hear kids offering each other advice rather than just taking the tools and running!
Tauhou - friendliness this weeks values shows on everyone's face, we are so very lucky to have a class where everyone is respected and we can have a good laugh together.
Working in two groups, zucchini was grated and measured, eggs from our chickens were broken and whisked and with a little bit of flour, sugar and love our cakes were born.
Working together to achieve a desirable outcome brings together many of the skills we have been working as the year has begun.
Kākāpō - cooperation joining in and having a go. It was fantastic to see the problem solvers in their element as they worked out their measurements and requested their ingredients. The marrows were pretty difficult to grate, no knife was given and no-one asked for one, they worked with what they had to get the job done, together.
