Continuing with our persuasive writing, this week Room 1 students were saying what they thought was the best pet to have and why. Here are some of our opinions with reasons to support these.
We have also been working very hard to learn some sewing skills. This was tricky but all the children persevered to produce a sampler which we will later hang.
Here are some examples produced by Shreya, Claire and Shavarn
We have been doing some persuasive writing this week. We had to say what our opinion was and give our reasons. Here we have some great persuasive writing examples about whether children should have to go to school, and whether children should be allowed to bring lollies to school. Have a read and see what you think.
Asha said"I think children should not bring lollies to school because thety have a lot of sugar. They make you have a sore tummy and they make your tummy fat and make teeth rot and your teeth fall out. You might choke when you are running and if you bring one lolly to school it won't be fair to other children.
They might leave their rubbish on the ground while they're running.
I think that we should keep lollies at home. After school for a treat we could have one lolly.
Chevelle said" I think they should not have lollies at school.Too many lollies might make you sick.
So don't bring lollies to school.
Duncan said "I think that we shouldn't bring lollies to school because they make us loopy and they've got lots of sugar in them.
Lollies... not fair to others if one person might bring lollies and another person might not bring lollies.
If you run as you eat lollies you might choke.
That is why I think that we shouldn't bring lollies to school.
Sianna said"I think kids should not have lollies at school because they have a lot of lollies and lollipops have lots of sugar.
Kids might leave the rubbish on the floor and if they run with their lollies they might choke.
Kids shouldn't have lollies at school.
Shreya said"Should Children have to go to school?
I think that kids should go to school.
Kids might not know how to read or not know how to write. If you don't know how to read or write you might not earn money.
You can make friends. If you don't go to school you might not make friends.
So that's why kids should go to school.
Ruby said" Should Children have to go to school?
I think that children should go to school.
You might not earn good money or have a good job if you do not go to school.
So thats why I think you should go to school.
Room 1 and 2 have been working hard to produce some fabulous prints. First we carved out a pattern from a foam block then printed it with inks. We had to persevere and cooperate with others to share the inks and rollers. Cooperation is our virtue this week so it was a good time to see this in action.
Last week we had a visit from the Noel Leeming Technology truck. Everyone learned about 3D printing and got to try out some of the latest innovations available as learning tools for children. Hover over each picture to see what we were doing. So much fun!
On Friday we all mucked in to dig our school gardens. The room 3 garden is in the shape of a star with triangles in between the points. These are for Room 1 and 2 gardens. Room 1 children made a tyre garden by mixing leaves, mulch and soil. The other triangle had an edge to keep the soil in. Later we will add a pallet and grow passionfruit up the sides.
On Monday we wrote captions about what we did. Here are three of our stories.
Thank you to Claire's nana and her friends who knitted the whole class individual woollen hats for the winter. Lucky us!!!
Room 1 is enjoying sharing the great learning we do at school.
