We used Van Gogh's painting" Starry night" as inspiration for our matariki paintings. We had to show movement and have a Matariki influence. Van Gogh meets Matariki! Shreya, Shavarn and Duncan produced these awesome works.
We enjoyed acting out parts of the legend Maui catches the Sun. Then we wrote a short piece describing the sun. Our learning intention was to use WOW words to paint a picture for the reader. WOW words are describing words( adjectives and adverbs) used to add detail. Briese,Shreya, Asha and Ruby are showing their suns.
With Matariki as our school focus we have been making mini kites and learning about the Matariki stars. It was a perfect day for flying kites today then we came inside to write about it.
Matariki Hikoi Stories
Duncan said"I saw the Kahurangi dance people dancing. I heard the people singing on the walk. I felt butterflies in my tummy.
Briese said" I saw a tree. I heard the wind. I felt surprised to see my friend."
Shavarn said" I saw them doing movements. They showed us movements. I heard stamping and I also heard cars. I felt excited because I saw Charley, he is my best friend. He comes to my house"
Shreya said" I saw Mrs Beaumont. She was shutting the gate of her house. I heard the children stomping when we were walking. I felt shy in front of all the people"
What a lovely Autumn day just perfect for a LEAF FIGHT!
We made some puppet pals presentations to show some information about what we have learned about bees. This was by Elliott, Lucas, Piper, Duncan and Ruby.
Another great effort from Shelby, Lachlan, Amber and Briese. We also made bee books full of information and fact about bees. Sianna and Claire shared their books with the class.
