Putting learning into a relevant and enjoyable context gives it meaning and purpose. Making pizzas gave us a chance to see how chefs use measurement everyday in their jobs. How they use fractions and proportions to make food taste good and make sure that everyone gets the same for their money.
We had a lovely morning starting by making a 4kg batch of dough with Leroy. Mixing and kneading by hand was harder than we expected. It was fun to predict how many pizzas that batch would make. Lucas was pretty close with a guess of 25, nice work.
Seeing learning go from school to family and on to community and back again was really inspiring for us today.
We really liked using the boards to get around the garden and being able to see where each plant was easily. We thought that these garden beds would be easy to weed.
Brad showed us their chicken coop, we had a good look inside and fed the chickens the tops of our swede, they loved it!
A big THANKYOU to Brad and Emma and their team. We loved spending the morning with you.
