Writing Haiku poems, we though about simple things that make our day. The challenge was identifying the syllables in the words that we wanted use. Haiku poems have a distinct structure of just 3 short lines, the first with 5 syllables, the second with 7 and the third with 5 syllables again. Creating a poem that got our message across using this structure was harder than some us of had anticipated.
Recognising and identifying the sounds that letter combinations make help us to learn spelling patterns and to read and write new, unfamiliar words.
Accepting the direction that dye went when blown was tricky, we realised that we couldn't control it and that when we let it go we created some interesting shapes.
Sometimes it is important to just stop and look around, to take a breath and appreciate where we are and what is around us. Become mindful or every moment while leaving space to celebrate those big achievements.
