It's great see everyone settled back into school. Collaboration is a driving force through all our classrooms, and Room 2 has some excellent work to share from their learning last week in this week's newsletter.
I'm sure you have heard plenty already at home from your child about their classroom, and I thank all the families who have communicated their thanks to the staff and I for our hard work setting up and establishing our programmes for each level in the school.
Fruit Tree Pruning
The best time to establish the shape and to some extent the future productivity of fruit trees is in their first 3 years. We are now 1 year on from planting our fantastic orchard and our small trees need a little attention before they start to bud up for spring.
Mrs Bartram will be pruning the trees on Wednesday afternoon with Room 2 and 3 students. If you'd like to come along and help, we would really appreciate it. If you have hand held secateurs that you'd be willing to share we would welcome those too.
As is always the way with our garden, it is a great opportunity to share knowledge, teach others or learn yourself, we encourage anyone who'd like to, to join us.
Room 2 and 3 students will need a warm coat on Wednesday afternoon and gumboots would be great if you have them available.
* pruning will be weather dependant, if it is too wet we risk causing damage to the trees so will postpone. Check into our facebook page as any further notices will be posted there.
Students in the Junior school have been using statistics to identify and prioritise jobs that need to be done in our gardens. What an amazing list, 22 things to get done! For some of these, the students recognise that we would need some help. If you have a skill, talent or simply enthusiasm and would like to help us tick these important jobs off our list come in and see your classroom teacher or Kath in the office.
