We enjoyed a relaxed and friendly Assembly again on Friday with Room 3 sharing a second song for the school to learn, "Life is Wonderful" by Jason Mraz. I'll add a link to the lyrics on Facebook later today so families can share it at home if they want to. I was proud of what our children had to share at Assembly, with Room 1's Father's Day cards, Room 2's Orchard Map, Jacob's meeting the Prime Minister recount and Room 3's bravery again in standing and leading a new song in front of the whole school. After Assembly Room 3 said how they noticed there were at least 20 people at Assembly, so that is a good turn out too! We've been discussing Assembly in Room 3 and making some changes like facing parents to sing and seating children in different ways. It will take time to find ourselves again but because we need the words projected at this stage, we have to arrange the Parents seating under the screen-which in turn means Parents need to get into Assembly before 2.15pm or use the side door, so they don't feel in the spotlight if they're late.
This week sees two early childhood visits to our school with a group of 8 from Footprints on Tuesday and another group of 6 from Waihi Kindy on Wednesday.
Thursday will be fun with our Nude Food and Garden to Meal focus in the morning and a skipping afternoon of fun planned also. Room 3 enjoyed cooking a stir fry from the garden a few weeks back, and it certainly is nice to see our hard work being enjoyed-it tastes so good!!
nga mihi nui
Would you like to help out in our gardens or orchard but not sure what needs doing?
Here's the answer, we have placed a blackboard in Te Kauri that will be updated regularly with jobs, projects and maintenance tasks. We invite you to pop in and have a look, whether you have 10 mins or 2 hours there are things that we would love your help with.
Students are in the process of writing guides to help with some of our tasks such as mulching and planting so that we are all on the same page.
We look forward to seeing you in this great community space.
This Thursday 10th September the whole school will come together to enjoy some fitness fun. Sharlene from Project Energize will be at school in the morning showing us how to use our garden produce to create lovely food for our lunch boxes. In the afternoon we get a chance to show off our skipping skills in a fun heart pumping session.
Skipping will be held on the courts from 1.30pm and we'd love to see you there.
